GreenSpark Solar & CVE North American Break Ground on 26MW of Solar Energy

GreenSpark Solar (GreenSpark) and CVE North America (CVE) have broken ground on a portfolio of five community solar projects totaling over 26 megawatts (MW) in New York State. CVE North America, headquartered in New York City and a subsidiary of the France-based CVE Group, is focused on developing, building, and operating community solar plants across the US. GreenSpark has designed, engineered, and built over 200 MW of renewable energy projects.

CVE North America

GreenSpark is providing the primary engineering, procurement, and construction services for five New York State projects owned by CVE North America, totaling over 26 megawatts (MW). As part of the New York Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program, all five projects will be community solar installations and receive funding from the NYSERDA’s NY-Sun program that aims to make solar energy more accessible to homes, businesses, and communities.

This 6.5 MW solar array, located in Geneseo, NY, is owned by Catalyze, who partnered with GreenSpark to provide the primary engineering, procurement, and construction services. This project consists of 12,012 modules and is an all-tracker system, which means the solar panels move with the sun to maximize production.

Pivot Energy

GreenSpark is providing the primary engineering, procurement, and construction services for six projects across Central and Upstate New York, owned by Pivot Energy, totaling 27.8 MW. The projects are all tracker systems, which means the solar panels move with the sun in order to maximize production. It has been a privilege working with Pivot, another Certified B Corp that focuses on providing a positive impact on society as measured by environmental stewardship, social leadership, and responsible governance (ESG) factors.

Cornell University Phase II

In 2020, Cornell announced a 1 MW power purchase agreement on the rooftop of five new buildings of their North Campus Residential Expansion. GreenSpark was chosen to design, engineer, and construct the solar arrays, and the project is owned by Kendall Sustainability Infrastructure with GreenSpark as a tax equity partner. This second phase of the project brings another 725kW to the Cornell campus. The solar power from this total project will reduce Cornell’s carbon footprint by providing about 35% of the power needed for the new buildings, and the energy represents a tenfold increase in the on-campus rooftop solar capacity.…
