Rochester Christian Reformed Church went solar in 2021 with a 35kW rooftop system covering about 50% of their electricity needs and saving them over $4,000 every year. The project utilized funding through NYSERDA’s NY-Sun Program and reduces the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to over 65,000 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle annually.

“The system has now made more than 83,000 kWh for us. And there was an audible gasp at last year’s budget meeting when the finance chairman noted that our annual cost for electricity had fallen from about $4,000 to less than $400.”
