As we reflect on what it means to be a B Corp, the past year, and what we’ve accomplished so far, here are a few of our highlights.

The B Corp Promise
You may have heard the term B Corp before, but what does it really mean? Simply put, Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It’s about balancing purpose and profit — and using business as a force for good.

For us, becoming a B Corp wasn’t a marketing move — it’s in our DNA. Certification simply demonstrates and affirms our sincere commitment to our employees, our customers, our community, and our planet. It ensures that we continue to hold ourselves accountable to the values we’ve lived by since day one.

We believe that diverse perspectives and lived experiences make us stronger and more creative. That’s why we intentionally foster a culture that embraces differences in gender, race, age, accessibility, sexual orientation, and background. We show up as visible, voluntary allies—every day—because belonging matters.
In 2020, we formalized this commitment by launching Taste Justice, our first employee resource group (ERG). Taste Justice recognizes the disproportionate impact of climate and social injustices on marginalized communities. Through education, community engagement, and advocacy, we’re working to embed equity and inclusion in everything we do—within our workplace and beyond.

Investing in Our Community
Being a force for good doesn’t stop at our office doors. As a B Corp, we’re committed to building a more equitable, sustainable future for our entire community. That’s why we’ve invested heavily in workforce development and education initiatives — particularly for underrepresented communities.
Workforce Development Initiatives
In 2024, GreenSpark’s workforce development program saw tremendous growth. Over the course of the year, this team:
- Developed a 5-session workshop series with the Urban League of Rochester and Catholic Charities Youth Build Program to provide solar education and job-readiness training. We were able to facilitate 7 workshops over the course of the year!
- Facilitated 4 hands-on solar workshops for local adult electrical programs, including Monroe BOCES 2 and Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES.
- Participated in career fairs and job readiness events across the region, meeting with over 100 local students.
- Served as an employer partner for Monroe Community College’s Skilled Trades Advisory Committee.
Community Engagement & Education
Community engagement and education is incredibly important to us. In 2024, we hosted several community events throughout the year, with our largest being SolarFest. This annual event brings together sustainability-minded partners, local food and drink vendors, and hands-on solar education for all ages. SolarFest is more than a celebration of clean energy—it’s a reflection of our belief that building a better, more equitable future starts with bringing people together.
Through this and other community events, we create space for connection, learning, and local collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to climate justice, inclusion, and collective action.
And we’re just getting started. In 2025, we’re expanding these programs even further and relocating our headquarters to downtown Rochester to increase accessibility and deeper community connections.
Protecting Our Planet
Of course, at the heart of our B Corp commitment is our dedication to the planet.
Saving the Earth — One Solar Project at a Time
We don’t just install solar panels. We build partnerships, cultivate community trust, and make a real environmental impact.
✅ Over 1,300 homes and 100+ commercial projects powered
✅ In 2024 alone, we installed 15% of all solar in New York State
✅ Our projects offset 1.3 million+ tons of CO2 — enough to power nearly 10,000 homes annually
We’re proud of the projects we build — but we’re just as proud of how we build them.
- Transparency: We’re the most trusted and experienced installer in the region and the only solar provider to stand behind our product through an energy production guarantee.
- Experience: As a Top Solar Contractor, we’re also one of just eight New York State solar companies holding the NYSERDA Gold Quality Installer designation, demonstrating our consistently high standards in quality design, installation, and system performance.
- Quality: At GreenSpark Solar, quality and sustainability are at the core of everything we do. As a member-owner of the Amicus Solar Cooperative, we leverage our collective buying power to offer our clients high-quality, American-made solar equipment at competitive prices.
- Care: For our large-scale solar sites, we prioritize working with local farmers to preserve prime agricultural soils and enhance biodiversity. We also employ agrivoltaics on many of these sites, which ensures sustainable land stewardship is harmonious with renewable energy production.
Minimizing our eco-impact
Our commitment to sustainability and fighting for our planet goes well beyond our solar installations.
Our headquarters runs on a microgrid powered by a 900kW wind turbine and 500kW of solar.
We’ve got a nearly complete all-electric vehicle fleet and on-site EV charging stations.
We compost all workplace food waste and host zero-waste events with the help of Impact Earth. In 2024, we composted over 1,000 pounds!
As an organization, we practice what we preach and are incredibly proud of our collective impact.
