Congratulations on your decision to go solar
Now that your contract is signed, here’s a look at what our team is doing behind the scenes to prepare your solar project and helpful resources as a new solar customer.

Next Steps
Project Preparation
- Complete permitting process, working with a variety of stakeholders such as the municipality, the DEC, State DOT, the US Army Corp of Engineers, etc.
- Submit the NYSERDA grant application to get funding for your project.
- Finalize your project design & production estimate.
- Ensure adherence to account code regulations & municipal requirements, industry best-practices, and your layout preferences.
Installation
- Procure project equipment, such as racking, solar panels, inverters, electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, and more, as your project needs dictate.
- Oversee site preparation and civil engineering work (i.e., access roads, fencing, etc.).
- Oversee project construction and coordinate with stakeholders and subcontractors.
- Manage the racking & module installation, along with electrical work (low and medium voltage equipment).
Interconnection
- Complete interconnection application with the utility & review the utility studies.
- Coordinate the testing and commissioning of your system with the utility.
- Ensure proper site clean up including recycling/repurposing of materials & landscaping.
Note: Interconnection timelines are subject to a variety of factors. Once we receive permission to operate from the utility, your solar project officially begins producing clean power for your organization. Your project manager will keep you updated on progress.
Customer Considerations
While GreenSpark is working diligently on your project, here are a few action items we recommend considering as a new solar customer.
- Finalize financing & let GreenSpark know if you need support.
- Confirm incentive eligibility with your tax professional.
- Add solar coverage to your property insurance.
- Keep an eye out for GreenSpark communications. We’ll need your timely signature on documents such as letters of authorization for permitting, the NYSERDA grant application, utility related documents, etc.
- Share our projected installation timing with your staff so they know when our crew will be on site.
- Notify your accounts payable team of your payment milestones as outlined in your contract to ensure adherence to schedules and avoidance of any project delays.
