Berkshire East Ski Area, GreenSpark Commercial Wind Project

Berkshire East became the second ski resort in the world to be powered by wind when GreenSpark completed the installation of a 900kW project. The wind turbine, a PowerWind 56, was the first PowerWind machine to be installed in the United States. The introduction of the Hamburg, Germany-based wind turbine manufacturing company to the United States has set up a pipeline for a dozen future sites where GreenSpark and PowerWind can work together in building the distributed wind community in the Northeastern United States.
