Three Projects, One Shared Vision

As highlighted by EnerG Magazine, GreenSpark Solar and Encore Renewable Energy recently completed three agrivoltaics projects that showcase a different approach to solar development.

Rather than removing land from agricultural use, these projects were designed to maintain and enhance agricultural productivity alongside clean energy generation. 

The featured projects include: 

  • Agente Solar (Constable, NY) – 3.8 MW DC 
  • Avenida Hill Solar (West Rutland, VT) – 2.9 MW DC 
  • Danyow Solar (Sheldon, VT) – 6.3 MW DC 

Together, these sites represent a growing commitment to land-use practices that benefit both local communities and the renewable energy transition. 

What Makes Agrivoltaics Different?

Agrivoltaics is the practice of integrating solar energy generation with ongoing agricultural activities. Depending on the site, that can include livestock grazing, pollinator habitat, crop production, or other agricultural uses. 

As noted in the feature, successful agrivoltaics requires thoughtful planning and collaboration from the earliest stages of project development. Site design, fencing, vegetation management, equipment placement, and agricultural operations must all work together to support both energy production and farming needs. 

A view that GreenSpark and Encore share on developing land for solar is that it’s an opportunity to create multiple benefits from the same piece of land. By considering agricultural outcomes during project design, we can help preserve working landscapes while expanding access to renewable energy.
