When it comes to solar development, there is a more bipartisan appeal for the benefits it has produced:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to research from Fidelity, traditionally Republican states accounted for 58% of the projects announced under the IRA.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to S&amp;P Global Commodity Insights, Texas is the leading US renewables market and has attracted roughly $75 billion in private sector and federal funding commitments for clean energy and transportation projects.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">77% of Republicans view wind and solar as favorable, according to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2024\/03\/01\/how-republicans-view-climate-change-and-energy-issues\/#:~:text=In%202020%2C%20for%20instance%2C%2065,offshore%20oil%20and%20gas%20drilling\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pew Research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is also nearly unanimous agreement that the IRA is simply too big to roll back. As Matt Breidert, senior portfolio manager at renewable energy investment firm Ecofin, commented in<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solarpowerworldonline.com\/2024\/07\/the-future-of-clean-energy-2024-presidential-election\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Solar Power World&#8217;s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> IRA Outlook, &#8220;It would take a substantial or definitive [Republican] victory with margin to effectuate a meaningful change in the IRA. In the absence of a sweep of the House, the Senate, and the presidency, <strong>it will be difficult to materially change the IRA<\/strong>.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-68fdaba elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"68fdaba\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-large\">Solar Tax Credits and the 2024 Election<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b0c9fb4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b0c9fb4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The biggest question on everyone&#8217;s mind right now as they consider whether or not to start their solar journey is, &#8220;Are solar tax credits going away?&#8221; And the answer is no\u2014at least not for 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No matter what happens with the 2024 election, any business or homeowner that goes solar between now and December 31, 2025, can take advantage of the current tax credit incentives, which are historically strong:<\/span><b><\/b><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>30% Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This tax credit applies to businesses and homeowners who go solar and includes battery storage.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/greensparksolar.com\/inflation-reduction-act-resi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inflation Reduction Act Residential<\/span><\/a><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/greensparksolar.com\/inflation-reduction-act-comm\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inflation Reduction Act Commercial<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyserda.ny.gov\/All-Programs\/NY-Sun\/Contractors\/Dashboards-and-incentives\/Upstate-Dashboard\"> <b>NYSERDA NY-SUN Grant<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: This New York State grant program offers $.20\/watt for residential solar projects and $.25\/watt for commercial solar projects.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For our average 2024 commercial solar installation (~200kW), this reduces the cost of going solar by about $50,000.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For our average 2024 residential solar installation (~11kW), this reduces the cost of going solar by about $2,000.<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">This grant program is time-sensitive, though, regardless of the presidential election results. Once it&#8217;s fully claimed, there is no guarantee of another block.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>25% New York State Tax Credit: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This tax credit applies to<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/greensparksolar.com\/residential\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">homeowners who go solar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is stackable with the Federal ITC.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-96e639b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"96e639b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-large\">New York State's Climate Goals are Steadfast<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7747c0d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7747c0d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York State is pro-solar, and the Presidential Election won&#8217;t affect its aggressive climate goals. As a public benefit corporation, NYSERDA offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><b>NYSEIA:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyseia.org\/about\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Solar Energy Industries Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (NYSEIA) advocates for the sustainable growth of solar energy across New York State. NYSEIA gives solar businesses a coordinated voice in the policy and regulatory proceedings that influence the growth of the New York solar market.
