Customer Highlight: 270 on East

GreenSpark Solar is pleased to announce the completion of a 73 kW roof-mount solar array for 270 on East Apartments in Rochester, NY. This housing project is owned by Dyno Group, a Licensed Contractor and NYS-Certified MBE located in Buffalo, NY. Other local partners in the project include Radec Electric and CSD Housing, LLC.

The 270 on East solar array is part of an ongoing revitalization known as the Inner Loop East Transformation Project. The Inner Loop highway was built in the 1950s and became known for its displacement of hundreds of homes and businesses. Now, the Inner Loop East Transformation project has gained national attention, as the highway has been demolished and filled in with the goal of reconnecting neighborhoods and creating a more vibrant, safe, and walkable community.

In a city where nearly half of all children live in poverty – the second-highest rate in the nation – and about 16% of the population lives in extreme poverty, projects like this are particularly meaningful.

The 270 on East affordable housing development created 112 homes, including 55 with support services for veterans and seniors. The homes are modern and energy-efficient, including the 73kW rooftop solar array installed by GreenSpark. The solar project received funding from NYSERDA and contributes to New York climate goals, considered the most ambitious in the country with a commitment to 100% zero-emission electricity by 2040.
